Cho Joo-hong, the elected county governor of Yeongdeok in North Gyeongsang Province from the People Power Party, said Tuesday that he would "move beyond simple management administration to a business-oriented administration that secures budgets and attracts companies."
In his acceptance remarks, Cho said, "Each and every vote carries the message to revive the local economy and overcome the crisis of population decline and aging." He added, "I will not lose my initial resolve and will repay this with results."
As his top county priorities, Cho presented attracting a new nuclear power plant and fostering the energy industry, expanding finances toward a 1 trillion won budget era, strengthening elderly care and the emergency medical system, building a disaster and safety response system, and reviving the local economy while creating jobs.
In particular, regarding attracting a new nuclear power plant, he emphasized, "I will make the energy industry Yeongdeok's new growth engine and connect it to quality jobs and the revitalization of the local economy."
