
South Korea will see mostly clear skies on Tuesday, the day of the 9th nationwide local elections, with clouds gradually increasing from the morning.
Showers are expected in parts of Gangwon, Chungcheong, Honam and Yeongnam between the afternoon and evening. Expected rainfall is 5 to 40 millimeters in inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon. Rainfall of 5 to 20 millimeters is forecast for Chungbuk, Jeonbuk, Gwangju and Jeonnam, as well as parts of Daegu, Gyeongbuk and Gyeongnam.
Morning lows are forecast at 15 to 20 degrees Celsius. Daytime highs will climb to 24 to 32 degrees depending on the region. Most areas across the country are expected to see midday temperatures topping 30 degrees. Apparent temperatures will also reach around 31 degrees, particularly in central and southern inland regions. The ultraviolet index will register at "very high" levels in most parts of the country between noon and around 3 p.m.
Waves in nearshore waters will rise 0.5 to 2.5 meters in the East Sea. The West Sea will see waves of 0.5 meters, while the South Sea will see waves of 0.5 to 2.0 meters. In offshore waters within about 200 kilometers of the coastline, waves are expected to reach 0.5 to 3.5 meters in the East Sea and South Sea. The West Sea will see relatively lower waves of 0.5 to 1.5 meters.
