Korea Electric Power Corp.'s (KEPCO) HVDC Construction Division has personally visited power conduit construction sites across Gyeonggi Province to conduct safety inspections. Officials descended as deep as 50 meters underground to check facility conditions, focusing all efforts on building accident-free worksites.
The HVDC Construction Division visited construction sites in Gyeonggi Province, including the Singapyeong-East Seoul Phase 2 power conduit, on May 27 and June 2 to inspect overall safety conditions. The inspections are part of the "2026 Intensive Safety Inspection in the Power Sector," organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety from April 20 through the 19th, and were arranged to strengthen the self-directed safety capabilities of construction sites in the power sector.
In particular, at the Singapyeong-East Seoul Phase 2 site on May 27, KEPCO officials and contractor safety management personnel gathered together to analyze risk factors and discuss improvement measures, conducting a range of safety activities.

Division Head Kim Ho-ki personally descended to the 50-meter-deep excavation site to closely examine facility conditions and verify the implementation of safety measures. In front of a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) about to begin main excavation, he held a safety prayer ceremony with on-site workers, wishing for accident-free completion of the project. At a virtual reality (VR) safety experience center set up on site, training was also conducted to raise safety awareness through simulations of excavation site accidents.
"Site safety is the most important fundamental value that determines the success or failure of construction projects," Division Head Kim Ho-ki said. "We will continue to visit sites frequently to communicate with workers and do our best to create a working environment where everyone can work with peace of mind."
The HVDC Construction Division plans to continue sequential safety inspections across all construction sites under its jurisdiction through the 19th. Even after the inspection period ends, the division intends to strengthen ongoing safety activities based on continuous communication with on-site workers, focusing all efforts to ensure that not a single accident occurs.
