The Korea Arboreta and Gardens Institute (KoAGI) will offer free admission on weekends throughout June to Army soldiers, military civilian employees and their accompanying family members in observance of Memorial Month, the institute announced Monday.
Visitors to the Baekdudaegan National Arboretum in Bonghwa, North Gyeongsang Province, the Sejong National Arboretum in Sejong City, and the Korea National Arboretum of Native Plants in Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province, can enter free of charge by presenting the Millipass application or a military identification card or other documentation verifying their status.
The institute has also prepared a range of cultural events and special exhibitions for June.
The Baekdudaegan National Arboretum will present the puppet show "The Brother and Sister Who Became the Sun and the Moon" for child and family visitors on June 17, while the Sejong National Arboretum will run its film screening program "Cinema Garden" on June 7.
In addition, the Bonsai Culture Center will host a collaborative exhibition with young ceramic artists titled "Cross-Section" from June 2 to 14, followed by the "2026 Korea Hosta Exhibition" from June 4 to 7, displaying approximately 200 specimens of various native hostas, including the Heuksando hosta, and cultivated varieties.
The Korea National Arboretum of Native Plants will hold "Iris Week" from June 20 to 28, featuring the Japanese iris, a representative summer native plant, to offer seasonal attractions.
"We will continue to expand a variety of participatory programs so that the public can enjoy arboretum and garden culture up close," said Shim Sang-taek, chairman of the Korea Arboreta and Gardens Institute.
