Jung Deok-young, the Democratic Party of Korea's candidate for Yangju mayor, emphasized his core campaign pledges centered on "Four Visions" and urged citizens to participate in voting one day ahead of the June 3 local election main voting day.
"Tomorrow is the main vote that will draw the blueprint for Yangju," Jung said on Monday. "Show through your vote who the owner of Yangju is and the power of a citizen-sovereign Yangju."
Jung pledged to expand the metropolitan railway and road networks to make Yangju "the transportation hub of northern Gyeonggi Province." Key initiatives include increasing Line 1 service, the on-time opening of the GTX-C and Line 7, and pushing for an extension of Line 3. He also pledged the swift advancement of the Seoul-Yangju Expressway and the resolution of chronic traffic congestion in the eastern district. Jung said he would enhance public transportation convenience by expanding metropolitan bus routes to Seoul's Gangnam and western areas and building an AI-based smart transportation system.
In the industrial sector, Jung said he would achieve an economic transformation by attracting artificial intelligence (AI) and bio industries, building a K-defense innovation cluster, and drawing AI data centers to the city. He notably proposed the establishment of a "Corporate Investment Task Force" reporting directly to the mayor. The plan envisions an execution-oriented organization that goes beyond mere review and advisory functions, directly visiting companies to provide swift support from investment through licensing.
Jung promised to expand childbirth incentives, build a school-community linked care system, and establish a one-stop system to prevent child abuse. He will also nurture future talent by supporting native English classes for elementary school students and distributing AI robots for English education.
Through the separation and establishment of an education support office and the introduction of free student commuter buses, he plans to create a "Yangju that people move to for education."
Core pledges in the medical sector include establishing an innovative public medical center for northern Gyeonggi, expanding Moonlight Children's Hospital services, and strengthening the 24-hour emergency medical system. He will create a city where everyone lives together by building the Yangju Comprehensive Social Welfare Center and expanding senior-friendly programs. In the cultural sector, he proposed creating the Yangju Daemo Mountain Fortress Historical Park, pursuing UNESCO World Heritage registration for the Hoeamsa Temple Site, and constructing the Yangju Arts Center.
"I will run looking only at Yangju citizens," Jung said. "Please create a new change and victory for Yangju with your precious vote on June 3."
