Inha University has established itself as the only university in Korea operating specialization programs across all four advanced industry sectors—semiconductors, bio, secondary batteries, and robotics. Total project funding reaches 57.7 billion won.
The university held the "2026 Advanced Industry Specialization University Project Steering Committee" on Tuesday. President Cho Myung-woo, along with the heads and deputy heads of the four project teams, attended to discuss collaborative cooperation measures.
Inha University was selected for the semiconductor field in 2024, followed by bio and secondary batteries last year, and robotics this year. The university proved its performance by being named a top-tier institution in semiconductors in 2024 and in bio and secondary batteries last year.
The achievement comes amid the government's expanded support for universities to address manpower shortages in advanced industries. The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy have focused on cultivating talent in four strategic fields—semiconductors, secondary batteries, bio, and robotics—since 2024. As demand grows for personnel with cross-disciplinary convergence capabilities, the role of universities operating multiple fields is expanding.
Accordingly, each project team plans to strengthen linkages in education, research, and infrastructure. They will share cases of joint research and industry-academia cooperation programs and build a practical talent cultivation system based on industry demand.
"Based on our experience operating project teams in each field and our infrastructure, we are providing broad educational opportunities," President Cho Myung-woo said. "Through inter-field linkages, we will build a convergence talent cultivation system."
