The Incheon Metropolitan Government will hold the "6th Incheon Traditional Culture and Arts Festival" at the Eoul Daemadang in Incheon Grand Park on the 7th. The annual festival brings together local traditional artists and organizations to present performances and hands-on experiences.
The highlight of this year's festival is the invitational performances. Korean traditional musician Park Ae-ri will perform a gugak (traditional Korean music) song stage, while the Cheonsan Yeonhuidan troupe will present a tightrope walking performance. The Soriul Korean Traditional Music Orchestra will perform a traditional orchestral piece, and the Park Eun-ha Dance Company will stage a Taepyeongmu (Dance of Great Peace).
The final round of the Traditional Arts Competition will also take place. Eight teams that passed the preliminary rounds in four categories — dance, vocal, pungmul, and percussion — will compete. As a pre-event, the Incheon Dohwa Nongak Preservation Society and the Incheon Namsadangnori Preservation Society will set the mood with farmers' music performances.
Performances by local arts troupes will follow, including Jindo Bukchum (drum dance), Beokkuchum, and Deungchum. Throughout the venue, hands-on programs such as single-rope walking, traditional games, and sangmo and beona spinning will be offered, allowing family visitors to participate.
"We hope this will be a time to directly experience the beauty and excitement of traditional culture and arts," said Kim Yoon-hee, head of the Cultural Heritage Division at the Incheon Metropolitan Government. The detailed schedule is available on the Incheon Metropolitan Government website.
