More than half of residents in Incheon's aging planned city redevelopment project have expressed their intent to participate, with an average consent rate of 76% securing momentum for the initiative.
Incheon City announced Wednesday that 21 out of 39 designated special redevelopment areas submitted applications when the recruitment for pioneer district selection in the aging planned city redevelopment project recently closed. The total number of housing units in the applications stands at 46,100.
By district, all two areas in the Guwol district (100%) and 12 of 18 areas in the Yeonsu-Seonhak district (67%) participated. In the Galsan-Bupyeong-Bugae district, 5 of 8 areas (63%) submitted applications. The Mansu 1, 2, 3 districts and the Gyesan district each saw only one area participate.
The city plans to announce the pioneer district selection results in August following internal review and consultation with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. The selection scale ranges from a minimum of 11,300 units to a maximum of 15,500 units across the five districts combined.
"We will select pioneer districts through fair and transparent verification procedures via an external expert evaluation committee," said Yoo Kwang-jo, Director General of the Urban Balance Bureau.
