Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province will hold a recruitment event aimed at expanding re-employment opportunities for middle-aged and older workers while supporting local companies' workforce needs.
The city announced Tuesday that it will host the "Second Act in Life Mid-Career Recruitment Event" on the 19th from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Communication Plaza on the first floor of City Hall. The event is the first pilot program tailored to middle-aged and older workers, building on the city's bimonthly "Job Seeker-Employer Meeting Day."
A total of 17 companies from various sectors, including group catering, services, manufacturing, social welfare, and wholesale and retail, will participate to recruit 133 workers. Job seekers can bring their resumes and conduct one-on-one interviews on-site with companies of their choice.
Related agencies, including the Employment and Welfare Plus Center and the city's Job Center, will also participate to provide customized employment counseling and information on employment policies. The Gyeonggi Microfinance and Welfare Support Center's Icheon branch will provide debt restructuring counseling for vulnerable groups, while basic and applied artificial intelligence (AI) training programs for older adults will also be introduced to strengthen re-employment capabilities.
"We will continue to expand practical recruitment linkages so that the careers and experience accumulated by middle-aged and older workers can be reconnected with local industries," Mayor Kim Kyung-hee said. "Through generation-specific tailored job policies, we will create a stable employment environment."
