Police have arrested a man in his 20s on charges of stabbing a woman in her 20s to death.
Seoul Gangdong Police Station said Wednesday that it had arrested the suspect, identified as A, on murder charges and was questioning him. A is accused of stabbing the victim, a woman in her 20s identified as B, to death in Gangdong-gu, Seoul, in the early hours of the same day. A fled the scene immediately after the crime and turned himself in to police at around 5:40 a.m.
After making the emergency arrest, police are investigating the precise time and location of the crime, along with other specific details of the case.
Police are investigating on the assumption that A and the victim may have been in a romantic relationship. However, no prior stalking reports or related criminal records between the two have been found, according to authorities.
Police plan to seek an arrest warrant for A once the investigation is complete.
