Incheon Port Authority (IPA) has expanded its youth employment support by partnering with four institutions, including Inha University and the Incheon Metropolitan City Independence Support Center.
IPA recently held the "Port Industry Experience Career Camp" jointly with Inha University's University Job Plus Center, the Incheon Metropolitan City Independence Support Center, and Job More, the authority said Wednesday. Now in its third edition, the camp introduces port logistics career paths to Inha University students and job seekers.
A notable change this year is the expansion of eligibility to include young people preparing for independent living. IPA newly joined hands with the Incheon Metropolitan City Independence Support Center to offer job-matching opportunities to youths preparing to live on their own after leaving child welfare facilities.
On the first day of the camp, IPA staff delivered special lectures on the port industry, followed by sessions on employment in global logistics. On the second day, a "Port Insight Tour" was held aboard the eco-friendly vessel Econuri to give participants a firsthand look at pier operations.
"We are continuing the camp with related institutions to ease the youth employment crunch in the Incheon region," said Shin Jae-wan, head of IPA's ESG Management Office. "We will expand support programs for young people grappling with employment concerns."
