South Gyeongsang Province has selected its "June Gyeongnam Pick," introducing regional tourist attractions and specialty products to mark the start of early summer in June.
The "Monthly Gyeongnam Pick" is a monthly promotional project pursued in cooperation with member organizations of the South Gyeongsang Province Public Relations Council, aimed at timely promotion of the region's distinctive foods and attractions. In May, the project drew interest from residents and tourists by introducing Changwon mideodeok (warty sea squirt), Geoje jungle bread, and Tongyeong's Park Kyung-ni Memorial Hall.
The June Gyeongnam Pick features five contents: "Hamyang onions," grown in fertile soil and known for their exceptional sweetness; "Miryang Chodong Yeonga Road," where green fields blend with flowers; "Namhae garlic," carrying the sea breeze of Namhae; the "Jinju Garden Expo," held at "Jinju in the Forest of Wolasan"; and "Changnyeong Santokki Bapsang," which transformed an abandoned rural house into a dining space.
In June, regional festivals tied to the Gyeongnam Pick selections will also be held in Namhae County and Jinju City. The "21st Namhae Garlic Hanwoo Festival" will take place from June 11 to 14 around the Namhae Exile Literature Museum in Namhae County to mark the garlic harvest season. The "Sugukuk Festival," linked to the garden expo, will be held at "Jinju in the Forest of Wolasan" in Jinju City from June 18 to 28, showcasing hydrangea landscapes and various hands-on activities.
The province plans to produce promotional videos based on the "June Gyeongnam Pick" and release them on YouTube, while introducing related content weekly on its official social media channels.
"We have organized this to allow people to enjoy the seasonal feel of early summer along with regional cuisine," said Jang Soo-hwan, public relations officer for South Gyeongsang Province. "We will continue to discover Gyeongnam's hidden charms and develop them into content loved by both residents and tourists."
