Daegu Technopark (Daegu TP) announced Wednesday that it is accepting applications for new "Textile + Future Industry Convergence R&D Project" proposals through January 10.
The textile industry, which has grown into one of Daegu's key sectors, is facing demands for advancement into future-oriented convergence fields amid intensifying global competition and shifting industrial paradigms driven by digital transformation.
The call for proposals aims to identify textile-future industry convergence R&D projects linked to emerging sectors such as future mobility, healthcare and robotics, and to support the projects in attracting state-funded programs.
Eligible applicants are industry-academia-research consortia composed of small and medium-sized enterprises, mid-sized companies, universities, research institutes and innovation organizations based in the Daegu region.
Around six projects will be selected, with a total of 70 million won in planning funds to be provided.
Selected projects will receive full-cycle support from project planning to securing state funding, including the operation of planning research councils, expert consultations, and networking with central government ministries and specialized agencies.
"Through the convergence of the textile industry and future industries, we plan to secure new growth engines for the regional textile sector and strengthen the foundation for attracting national R&D projects," Daegu TP President Kim Han-sik said.
