Bucheon Sejong Hospital has significantly expanded its clinic system to enhance expertise in treating pediatric cardiac diseases.
Bucheon Sejong Hospital announced Wednesday that it is newly opening nine specialized pediatric cardiac clinics. Including the existing Grown-Up Congenital Heart Disease (GUCH) clinic, the total reaches 10.
The key is segmentation by disease. The clinics are divided into categories such as fetal heart disease, complex congenital heart disease, Kawasaki disease, pediatric arrhythmia, and pulmonary arterial hypertension, allowing patients to receive customized treatment in one location.
The rare genetic disease clinic focuses on the early diagnosis of hereditary heart conditions. The minimally invasive surgery clinic aims to shorten recovery periods by reducing incision sites. The congenital heart disease intervention clinic uses catheter-based treatment without open-chest surgery, easing the burden on infants and young children.
The 10 clinics will be staffed by 40 specialists from cardiology, pediatrics, cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, radiology, and laboratory medicine. The system operates through multidisciplinary collaboration covering diagnosis, surgery, and follow-up care.
"We have served at the forefront of pediatric cardiac treatment for more than 40 years," said Jang So-ik, director of medical services and a pediatrician at Bucheon Sejong Hospital. "Through these 10 specialized clinics, we will provide even more professional medical services."
