North Gyeongsang Province announced Monday that the "Baekdudaegan Trail6 Challenge" will begin on the 20th of this month in Sangju with an expanded course lineup.
The Gyeongbuk Baekdudaegan Trail6 Challenge serves as core content for branding Baekdudaegan forest tourism, jointly organized by North Gyeongsang Province and six cities and counties in the Baekdudaegan region, including Gimcheon, Yeongju, and Sangju.
This year, the program will be held six times across the six cities and counties, accommodating a total of 1,500 participants.
Each event will recruit 250 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.
Starting in Sangju, the events will continue in Gimcheon (Sept. 19), Mungyeong (Oct. 3), Bonghwa (Oct. 10), Yeongju (Oct. 24), and Yecheon (Oct. 31).
Each event will offer two courses based on difficulty: a beginner course of around 10 to 14 kilometers and an intermediate-to-advanced course of more than 14 kilometers.
Participants will walk the entire route safely from the starting point to the destination under the guidance of professional trekking managers.
"The Baekdudaegan Trail6 Challenge, now in its second year, is a program that allows participants to experience the outstanding forest resources of the Baekdudaegan while enjoying both health and leisure, and it will offer a special experience," said Choi Soon-go, Director General of the Forest Resources Bureau of North Gyeongsang Province.
