A groundbreaking system that collects real-time marine environmental data — including water temperature and dissolved oxygen — from fishery monitoring equipment installed at 110 observation points across South Jeolla Province's coastal waters and delivers the information to fishermen has drawn attention.
The South Jeolla Province Marine and Fisheries Science Institute announced Friday that it has improved and strengthened the functions of its mobile application, "Jeonnam Bada Alimi" (Jeonnam Sea Notifier). The latest upgrade focuses on reinforcing a user-centered information delivery system.
Key improvements include a complete overhaul of the map user interface, the addition of a satellite map function, a new low-temperature information service, and mobile-environment optimization features such as screen zoom-in and zoom-out. In particular, the existing map screen has been fully redesigned to enhance readability and visibility.
The new satellite map function also allows users to more intuitively check the locations of observation points and information on surrounding waters.
"The fisheries industry is at an important juncture where it must shift from an experience-based approach to one grounded in data and science," said Kim Chung-nam, director of the South Jeolla Province Marine and Fisheries Science Institute. "Through the advancement of the fishery monitoring system, we will do our best to prevent fishery disasters caused by abnormal water temperatures and to strengthen our response capabilities."
