Ulsan Metropolitan City is accepting applications for the "2026 Ulsan Metropolitan City Local Bookstore Certification" until May 27, as part of efforts to revitalize local bookstores and foster a reading culture ecosystem.
Final selections will be made through document screening and on-site inspections. This year, certification requirements such as business duration and number of employees have been eased through an ordinance revision, lowering the barrier to participation. Eligible applicants are book retail stores that operate a physical storefront in Ulsan and have been in business for at least six months. Large chain stores and online bookstores are excluded.
Certified bookstores will receive various support benefits for two years, including recommendations for priority book purchases by public libraries and participation in the book price refund program. Applications can be submitted by email, postal mail, or in person.
