The Jeonnam Bio Foundation has launched an initiative to strengthen the growth and competitiveness of fisheries companies in the province's blue food tech sector by leveraging regionally specialized marine resources such as seaweed.
According to the foundation on the 19th, it began operating the "Youth Blue Food Tech Startup Item Competition Bootcamp" on the same day as part of its "2026 Youth Blue Food Tech Package Support Project." The bootcamp will run through the 21st at the Marine Bio Joint Cooperation Research Institute in Wando County, South Jeolla Province, targeting 10 aspiring entrepreneurs selected through document review.
The training is structured as a hands-on program covering the latest startup trends in the blue food industry, business model development, customer analysis, and skills for writing and presenting business plans. Participants will sharpen the competitiveness of their items through AI tool utilization strategies, business model canvas exercises, one-on-one mentoring, and mock competitions.
"We have strengthened practical training and mentoring so that young entrepreneurs can understand the potential of the blue food tech industry and build real commercialization capabilities," said Jung Woo-hyuk, center director at the Jeonnam Bio Foundation. "Through this bootcamp, we hope to discover promising young startups that will lead the local marine bio and blue food industries."
The Youth Blue Food Tech Package Support Project is being carried out by the Jeonnam Bio Foundation as a Wando County initiative funded by the Local Extinction Response Fund.
