Incheon Transit Corporation has been ranked No. 1 in rail safety nationwide, retaining the top spot among 25 agencies with an A grade for the second consecutive year.
The corporation said Wednesday that it was named "Best Operating Agency" after scoring 91.80 points in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 2025 Railway Safety Management Level Assessment. The score was more than 6 points above the national average of 85.38. The corporation received perfect marks in the accident metrics and safety investment categories.
A proprietary system developed by the corporation, dubbed "CHECK 365," played a central role. Employee-led risk identification programs, including WHY-WHY discussion sessions and hands-on training, drew strong evaluations alongside management's on-site inspections and a data-driven risk management framework.
The effect was borne out in the numbers. Industrial accidents, which had averaged eight per year over the past four years, fell to just one through May of this year. The corporation also ranked first in internal customer satisfaction and reached the highest level nationwide in external customer satisfaction.
"We have transformed our organizational culture based on the philosophy that employee happiness is citizen safety," CEO Choi Jung-kyu said. "We will do our best to build an urban railway that citizens can use with peace of mind."
