Hannam University students have shown the strongest entrepreneurial drive among college students nationwide.
Hannam University announced Monday that it ranked first in applications among university operating institutions nationwide in the participant recruitment for the "Everyone's Startup Project," a program promoted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development, demonstrating its startup support capabilities.
Upon the close of recruitment for the Everyone's Startup Project, Hannam University received 1,200 ideas, the highest number among all university operating institutions nationwide. The school also recorded 1,682 followers for its mentor institution, the highest level of interest among national operating institutions.
The "Everyone's Startup Project" is a nationwide startup support program open to any citizen with an idea. Applications can be submitted with a simple idea proposal, without requiring a business plan. After selection, participants receive stage-by-stage startup support, including startup activity funding, mentoring, prototype production, expert consulting, and IR and investment linkage.
Throughout the operation of this project, Hannam University has run various field-based programs focused on "expanding the startup base" rather than merely on recruitment. In particular, the university held touring information sessions at high schools in cooperation with the Daejeon-Sejong Bizcool Teachers' Council to spread startup awareness among youth, drawing interest by presenting entrepreneurship as a career path that can be experienced from high school rather than only after college.
The university also held information sessions linked to its Startup Talent admissions track to explain how startup experience can lead to college admission and subsequent growth, while expanding the base for college student participation through on-campus startup courses and extracurricular programs.
Hannam University recently signed a business agreement with a youth center in the Daejeon region to create an environment where young people can freely develop ideas and pursue entrepreneurship within their living areas. The school is focusing on improving startup accessibility and expanding the region-based startup ecosystem by utilizing the youth center's space and community.
"We have expanded the scope of startup participation to include youth, college students, and local young people, and have built a region-based startup ecosystem," said Lee Sang-hoon, head of Hannam University's Startup Support Center.
