Cho Min-ho, a professor in the Department of Computer and Software Engineering at Korea University Sejong Campus, has been inaugurated as the 13th president of the Korean Society for Internet Information (KSII). His term runs from May 2026 to December 2027, spanning one year and six months.
KSII is one of Korea's leading IT academic societies, having led research and industrial development in the fields of internet information technology and computer science. Since its founding in 2000, the society has contributed to the advancement of Korea's internet information technology sector through academic conferences, journal publications, and the promotion of industry-academia-research exchanges.
Cho is credited with playing a key role in the internationalization and academic standing of KSII. He spearheaded the launch of the society's English-language international journal, Transactions on Internet and Information Systems (TIIS), in 2007 and served as its editor-in-chief, contributing to the journal's stable establishment and global competitiveness.
TIIS was listed in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) in July 2009, gaining recognition as an excellent international journal within a short period after its launch. The listing was an unusually rapid achievement among international journals published by Korean academic societies, and marked the first SCIE listing among journals issued by domestic computer science societies.
Cho also served as the founding organizing committee chair of the International Conference on Internet (ICONI), hosted by KSII, contributing to the society's international academic exchanges.
"I will further strengthen the international competitiveness of ICONI and INTCOM, the society's flagship international conferences," Cho said. "I will also lay the foundation for TIIS, our SCIE-indexed international journal, to emerge as a top-tier global publication."
