The Korea Forest Service and the Korea Forestry Promotion Institute said they are hosting the "2026 Forest Food Festival" at Yukjo Madang in Gwanghwamun Square, Jongno-gu, Seoul, from May 13 to 14.
At the opening ceremony on May 13, Chef Cho Hee-sook, known as the "Godmother of Korean Cuisine," and Korea Forest Service Minister Park Eun-sik introduced the effects and benefits of edible forest products and held a "Forest Food Demonstration," showcasing dishes made with forest ingredients.
The festival also features a direct-sales market where visitors can purchase seasonal forest products, including fatsia shoots, wild greens, and shiitake mushrooms, at prices lower than market rates. A range of programs and events accessible to participants of all ages will also be held, including bite-sized food tastings, social media verification events, and stamp tour activities.
