Yangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced Monday that it will conduct the "2026 Community Health Survey" from the 16th of this month through July.
The survey is a statutory investigation jointly led by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency and the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Based on Article 4 of the Regional Public Health Act, it is conducted annually in cities, counties, and districts nationwide. It analyzes residents' health status and lifestyle habits to serve as foundational data for establishing health care plans tailored to regional characteristics.
The survey targets adult household members aged 19 and over, selected through statistical sampling. Surveyors who have completed professional training will visit the selected households in person and conduct one-on-one interviews using tablet PCs.
The survey consists of 18 main categories. It examines overall health conditions, including health behaviors such as smoking, drinking, and physical activity; nutrition and dietary habits; prevalence of chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes; mental health; and medical service utilization.
Based on the survey results, the city plans to address health disparities between regions. It will also expand customized health promotion programs aimed at extending citizens' healthy life expectancy.
"Surveyors will always wear identification badges during visits," a Yangju City official said. "We ask selected citizens to actively cooperate." Inquiries can be directed to the Health Promotion Division of the Yangju City Public Health Center.
