Lim Tae-hee, a candidate seeking re-election as Gyeonggi Province Superintendent of Education, pledged Wednesday to establish 'G-ONE,' a Gyeonggi education digital platform, in schools starting the second semester to reduce administrative burdens on teachers and staff and enhance convenience for the education community.
He emphasized that the platform would create an environment where teachers can focus on classes and student guidance.
'G-ONE' is an integrated digital system that allows students, parents and school staff to access educational information and services, previously scattered across multiple channels, on a single platform. It also includes collaboration features for teachers and staff, with a focus on improving work efficiency at schools.
Notably, the platform will be linked with paid versions of generative artificial intelligence (AI) services ChatGPT and Gemini. Teachers and staff will be able to use high-performance AI to prepare class materials and support teaching and learning activities without bearing separate costs. The Lim campaign said, "We will support teachers in designing higher-quality classes."
Administrative support functions will also be strengthened. When teachers and staff ask questions during their work, the system will draw on approximately 140,000 pieces of learning data to find relevant regulations, manuals and guidelines, and provide summaries of the key content. It will also offer real-time subtitles during video conferences, summarize meeting content and draft meeting minutes, helping to reduce the burden of repetitive administrative tasks.
The plan also includes measures to improve convenience for students and parents. Multiple parent notification apps previously operated separately will be consolidated into one, allowing users to check academic schedules, assignments and class material requirements at once. Responses and consent procedures for various school notices will also be handled on a single platform.
The platform will additionally support translation in 23 languages for multicultural families. The aim is to reduce information access problems caused by language barriers and create a smoother communication environment between parents and schools.
"We must fix the reality of teachers wasting time searching through complex regulations and handling repetitive administrative tasks," Lim said. "Through 'G-ONE,' an AI assistant specialized for education, we will realize reduced workloads for teachers and staff and deliver high-quality teaching and learning support."
