Yeungjin University in Daegu announced Tuesday that it has been finalized for the Ministry of Education's "AID (AI+Digital) Transition Focused Junior College Support Program," launching a full-scale push for artificial intelligence (AI) transformation (AX).
Under the program, the university will make AI foundational liberal arts courses, such as "Digital Literacy," mandatory so that all enrolled students can acquire essential competencies for the AI era, and will fully introduce "AI-linked mandatory major courses" that integrate AI technology into each field of study.
The university will operate an "AX Innovation Center" under the direct supervision of the president as a control tower to oversee innovation, and plans to enhance customized career design and learning support systems by analyzing students' learning data in real time based on its in-house developed "AI Learning Analytics Platform."
The university will also pursue the AX transformation of existing job functions jointly with industry partners.
To this end, it will operate "micro-degree major programs" reflecting regional industry demand and push forward projects to redesign existing job processes on an AI basis together with industry partners.
"Through mandatory AI education tailored to each major, we will enhance students' work capabilities and secure unrivaled competitiveness in the changing job market," Yeungjin University President Choi Jae-young said. "Taking this program as an opportunity, we will embark on powerful AX innovation on par with a second founding of the university."
