Public Procurement Service (PPS) Administrator Baek Seung-bo visited the Saemangeum New Port construction site on Tuesday to inspect the asphalt concrete supply status.
Baek focused on reviewing overall supply chain operations, including asphalt concrete production capacity, raw material procurement, and transportation and delivery systems. He also listened to on-site officials and discussed necessary improvements to ensure timely supply.
On April 9, the PPS responded to the sharp rise in asphalt (AP) raw material prices by improving price fluctuation standards to swiftly reflect the cost increases. The agency also implemented stabilization measures, including simplifying supporting documentation requirements and temporarily waiving two-stage competitive bidding.
The PPS is further strengthening its site-centered response system by designating priority supply sites through regional public-private supply and demand councils and intensively managing supply conditions.
"We will closely cooperate with relevant agencies and strengthen supply chain monitoring to ensure timely delivery of materials to public construction sites, including the Saemangeum New Port project," Baek said.
