A KTX high-speed train traveling from Busan Station to Seoul Station came to a halt due to a malfunction on Sunday morning.
According to Korea Railroad Corp. (Korail), the high-speed train stopped due to an operational failure shortly after departing Daejeon Station at around 8:32 a.m. on Sunday. Korail carried out emergency measures on the stalled train and moved it back to Daejeon Station. The 906 passengers on board transferred to a replacement train at Daejeon Station and resumed their journey at around 9:33 a.m.
Passengers experienced delays of about 79 minutes during the process. Six other regular trains were also disrupted, with delays ranging from about 10 to 40 minutes.
"Specialist vehicle technicians carried out emergency measures," a Korail official said. "We plan to send the train to the rail yard to investigate the specific cause of the malfunction."
