Hanam City is developing Misa Lake Park into a hub for nighttime cultural content. Building on three years of accumulated public exhibition expertise, the city is launching a citizen-centered nighttime landscape project in earnest.
Hanam City announced Tuesday that it will operate the nighttime exhibition "Bitbangul-tteul" through June along the deck area in front of the stepped plaza at Misa Lake Park. The exhibition is designed around the city's official characters "Hanami and Bangul-i" and the city flower, the lily of the valley. Beyond simple viewing, it aims to create a "stay-and-linger space" where citizens can naturally pause and interact during their walks.
◇ Debut of New Character 'Baby Lily of the Valley Fairy'
The centerpiece of this exhibition is the new "Baby Lily of the Valley Fairy" character, which joins Hanami and Bangul-i. The sculpture, crafted with a petite size and charming expression, targets family visitors with children. Viewers can stand alongside the character sculptures to take commemorative photos.
When the sun sets, the space transforms. Blue galaxy lighting and LED ball bulbs symbolizing lily of the valley illuminate the deck, creating a fairytale-like scene. Combined with the city lights across the lake, the display completes a nightscape unique to Hanam.
This year marks the third year of Hanam City's nighttime landscape project. Over the past two years, 10-meter-tall inflatable sculptures of Hanami and Bangul-i floated on the lake's surface, drawing strong responses from citizens. Building on this experience, the city has improved lighting design and viewing routes this year. Accessibility and experiential quality have been enhanced so that citizens can view, enjoy and experience the exhibition up close.

The name "Bitbangul-tteul" means "a small resting place where lily of the valley blooms with light." It was designed as a lyrical spatial exhibition connecting the city, nature and people. The pure and clear image of lily of the valley blooming in light, combined with the bright smiles of the characters, offers visitors a sense of childlike wonder and rest.
Starting with "Bitbangul-tteul," the city plans to continuously develop nighttime landscape content unique to Hanam. The city aims to cultivate it as a flagship brand that both citizens and visitors can enjoy.
"'Bitbangul-tteul' is a resting place and exhibition space designed so that citizens can naturally encounter the city's unique brand along their everyday walking paths, take photos and linger," a Hanam City official said. "We will cultivate it into a signature nighttime cultural content representing Hanam by adding diverse presentations and storytelling."
