Korea Forest Service Minister Park Eun-sik visited the Southern Region Wildfire Prevention Center in Hamyang County, South Gyeongsang Province, on Friday to inspect spring wildfire response readiness and encourage staff.
The Southern Region Wildfire Prevention Center was launched on January 6, 2025, with the goal of minimizing wildfire damage in the Busan, Ulsan, and South Gyeongsang regions. It serves as a command center for systematic on-site wildfire response and firefighting operations.
Park focused on verifying the operation of rapid and accurate initial wildfire response measures, including the wildfire monitoring system and the situation dissemination framework with related agencies.
"The Busan, Ulsan, and South Gyeongsang regions have rugged mountainous terrain and many forests adjacent to urban areas, raising concerns about significant damage when wildfires occur," Park said. "Please make every effort to protect the precious lives of the people and our forest resources."
