Gyeonggi Province said Tuesday it has granted final approval to a partial revision of the 2035 Uiwang Urban Master Plan submitted by the city of Uiwang.
A partial revision of an urban master plan is the highest-level statutory plan established by local governments under relevant laws. The plan approved by the province reflects changes in the urban environment and higher-level plans that have emerged since the original 2035 Uiwang Urban Master Plan was established in November 2020.
According to the province, the urban spatial structure and planned population for the target year remain unchanged, but some elements, including land use plans, infrastructure plans, and disaster prevention plans, have been modified.
Under the main provisions, 4.923 square kilometers of Uiwang's total administrative area of 53.990 square kilometers has been designated as planned urbanization land to support development projects. The land use plan also finalized 8.113 square kilometers of existing developed land as urbanized land, with the remaining 40.954 square kilometers designated as conservation land.
The infrastructure plan incorporates routes included in the Gyeonggi Province Railway Master Plan into its railway planning to ensure consistency with higher-level plans.
