The Gyeonggi Agriculture and Fisheries Promotion Agency is recruiting participants for the May session of its culinary program "Gyeonggi Connecting Table" through the 14th.
The event will take place at 2 p.m. on the 29th at the Cooking Studio of the Gyeonggi Food Plaza in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon. Lee Ki-sook, Korea's Food Master No. 43, will attend the event and share the deep flavor and noble philosophy of "gamhongnoju" through vivid storytelling.
Gamhongnoju, whose name means "a dew-like liquor that is sweet and reddish in color," is a premium liquor from the Joseon Dynasty, renowned for its deep flavor with notes of cinnamon. Participants will have the opportunity to taste the master's gamhongnoju and also make "My Own Gamhongnoju Chocolate," a modern reinterpretation of the Joseon-era premium liquor.
Any Gyeonggi Province resident can participate in the event free of charge. However, only 20 participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis to allow hands-on practice with the master.
Applications will be accepted from 10 a.m. on the 11th to 6 p.m. on the 14th. Registration can be easily completed through the Gyeonggi Food Plaza's KakaoTalk Plus Friend channel or the Gyeonggi Agriculture and Fisheries Promotion Agency's website.
"Through the unique encounter between traditional liquor and chocolate, residents will newly discover the great value of our food culture," a Gyeonggi Province official said. "We hope this will be an unforgettable and sweet break for residents tired from their busy daily lives, allowing them to deeply understand the value of traditional liquor and enjoy our food culture in a new way."
