Busan Tourism Organization and Gyeongbuk Cultural Tourism Corp., both with experience hosting the APEC Summit, are opening a "mega-regional tourism era" by strengthening the tourism competitiveness of Korea's Yeongnam region.
The two organizations agreed to join forces on mega-regional tourism marketing and joint promotion, the development of a foreigner-only pass leveraging the APEC legacy, and joint bids for international events.
They also plan to bundle the region into a single tourism belt to improve accessibility for visitors, and to continuously develop locally specialized content by operating a standing, practitioner-centered collaboration network.
"Building on the APEC brand, this will mark a turning point that elevates the caliber of Yeongnam tourism to a higher level," said Kim Nam-il, president of Gyeongbuk Cultural Tourism Corp.
