Visitors can experience healing and participate in programs at Hannam Saryeoni Oreum Forest in Seogwipo, Jeju.
The Warm Temperate and Subtropical Forest Research Center under the National Institute of Forest Science announced on the 6th that it will open Hannam Saryeoni Oreum Forest, located in Seogwipo, starting May 16.
Selected as one of Korea's 100 premier forests, Hannam Saryeoni Oreum Forest offers visitors the chance to experience diverse forest landscapes along its trails, including evergreen broad-leaved forests, deciduous broad-leaved forests and Japanese cedar exhibition forests.
The institute plans to expand daily visitor capacity from 300 to 400 this year, allowing more members of the public to enjoy the forest. The expansion reflects visitor demand that has more than tripled from previous levels, with approximately 30,000 people expected to visit in 2025.
The institute will also operate forest education programs certified by the Korea Forest Service, providing visitors with hands-on forest exploration opportunities.
"We hope visitors can directly experience the beautiful forest at Hannam Saryeoni Oreum and enjoy rest and leisure," said Choi Hyung-soon, director of the Warm Temperate and Subtropical Forest Research Center at the National Institute of Forest Science.
