An explosive device was discovered in a stream near Gunwi County in Daegu and recovered by authorities.
According to police on Wednesday, a report was received at around 2:35 p.m. that a suspected explosive device was located approximately 50 meters downstream from Masa Bridge on Sachang Stream in Gogok-ri, Hyoryeong-myeon, Gunwi County. The object was discovered by children who had been playing in the water.
A military Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit dispatched to the scene tentatively confirmed that the explosive was a Soviet-made 76mm high-explosive shell used during the Korean War.
The military and police controlled the area before safely recovering the shell at around 4:20 p.m.
