A rare case has emerged in which a lottery player won first prize on pension lottery tickets purchased both online and offline with the same numbers.
According to a winner interview released by Dong-haeng Lottery, a winner identified as A won first prize in the 312th round of Pension Lottery 720+ on both a ticket purchased at a physical store and an additional ticket bought online with the same numbers.
A purchased the ticket as usual based on a recommendation from his regular retailer, then returned home and bought another set with the same numbers through the Dong-haeng Lottery website. That decision led to an unexpected result a few days later.
"I couldn't believe it even after checking the results. Since both the online and offline tickets won first prize, I was actually calm at first," A said. "I ran to tell my wife right away, and I felt greatly relieved thinking I could ease my worries about the children's future."
A, who regularly purchases both Lotto and pension lottery tickets, is known to have consistently maintained the practice of splitting the same numbers between online and offline purchases. "I plan to use the winnings for my children through savings accounts and insurance," A said. "I believe this kind of luck can come to anyone."
To win first prize in Pension Lottery 720+, a player must match all seven digits, including the group number and six additional numbers. One set consists of five tickets, and purchasing the same numbers across all groups results in simultaneously winning one first prize and four second prizes.
"The winner will receive 22 million won per month before taxes," a Dong-haeng Lottery official told Seoul Economic Daily. "There have been previous cases of simultaneous online and offline wins, so this is not the first instance."
The prize is paid in the form of an annuity. First-prize winners receive 7 million won per month for 20 years, while second-prize winners receive 1 million won per month for 10 years.
