Hanam City in Gyeonggi Province said Friday it will operate a "door-to-door application service" through July 3 for residents with mobility difficulties who have trouble applying for high fuel price relief subsidies. Under the program, public officials visit the homes of vulnerable residents, including the elderly and people with disabilities, to process applications and deliver the payments directly.
Eligible recipients are residents with mobility difficulties, including the elderly and people with disabilities, who were registered in Hanam City as of March this year.
The application procedure has been simplified so that when eligible residents make a request by phone, officials from the community service center visit them in person to receive the application. Once the payment is ready, officials return to deliver the subsidy in the form of a local gift certificate (Harmony Card) or a prepaid card.
Vulnerable residents already identified by the city can receive in-person applications without making a separate request.
The program is carried out primarily by welfare teams at community service centers, with public officials, contract workers and volunteers working in pairs of two. The key objective is to proactively identify those who may be excluded from support due to mobility difficulties.
"The burden on vulnerable groups is significant amid high fuel prices," a Hanam City official said. "We will continue to provide field-oriented welfare services to ensure no citizen is left behind."
Further details can be obtained by contacting local community service centers.
