Min Kyung-sun, the Democratic Party's candidate for Goyang mayor, presented housing environment improvement pledges during a meeting with apartment resident groups on Tuesday.
At his campaign office, Min held a meeting with the Goyang branch of the National Federation of Apartment Residents' Representatives and said, "If elected, I will maintain quarterly regular communication between Goyang City Hall and residents."
"Given Goyang's characteristic high apartment residency ratio, resolving residents' daily inconveniences and creating a safe housing environment is the core of city administration," he emphasized.
At the meeting, the federation requested: normalization of the multi-family housing subsidy budget, strengthened safety management, measures to address floor noise between units, and support for the cost of installing electric vehicle charging facilities above ground. The group pointed out that the multi-family housing subsidy budget plummeted from 1.2 billion won four years ago to 450 million won last year, and was further cut this year from the initially discussed 1 billion won to 700 million won.
Min promised to conduct on-site inspections of hazardous buildings immediately upon taking office. He also agreed on the need for a dedicated mediation body, noting that Goyang currently lacks a floor noise complaint center.
"Voices from the field are the key to solving problems. Through administration that communicates with residents, I will make Goyang's apartment living environment safer and more pleasant," Min said. "Through quarterly regular meetings, I will implement 'communication administration' in which voices from the field are immediately reflected in city policies."
Min served three terms as a Gyeonggi Provincial Council member and as president of the Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation, and currently serves as a policy special advisor to Democratic Party leader Jung Chung-rae.
