
A fire broke out at a scrapyard in Yeonseo-myeon, Sejong, on Tuesday, with major flames brought under control about two and a half hours later.
According to the National Fire Agency, the fire started at around 4:35 p.m. at a scrapyard in Yeonseo-myeon, Sejong. Fire authorities issued a Level 1 response at 5:09 p.m. and escalated it to Level 2 at around 6 p.m. as the flames spread.
Authorities deployed 115 personnel, 54 pieces of equipment, and four helicopters to fight the fire, achieving initial containment at around 7:09 p.m. The response level was subsequently lowered back to Level 1.
A man in his 60s, identified by the surname A, sustained first-degree burns on his arm and is receiving hospital treatment. Police and fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
