A project is underway to ensure safe navigation for vessels operating at Daecheon Port in Boryeong, South Chungcheong Province.
South Chungcheong Province announced Wednesday that it will invest 122.9 billion won ($85 million) in provincial funds by 2030 to build a dredged soil dumping site at the northern breakwater of Daecheon Port.
The province plans to construct a 2,133-meter outer facility (revetment) in the waters off Sinheuk-dong, Boryeong. It will request a construction contract from the Public Procurement Service this month and begin the process of selecting a contractor.
In particular, as this construction has been classified as a high-difficulty port project with an estimated value of more than 30 billion won, the contractor will be selected based on the comprehensive evaluation bid award criteria.
To boost the local construction industry, the province plans to set the minimum construction participation ratio for local companies at 49% and recommend to the Public Procurement Service that the subcontracting participation ratio also be set at 60% or higher.
"We will complete the dredged soil dumping site at the northern breakwater of Daecheon Port in a timely manner and continue to expand port infrastructure to ensure the stable operation of coastal ports in the province," a provincial official said.
