The Gwangju National Science Museum has prepared a special event for the whole family to enjoy on Children's Day, May 5. With a lineup featuring a balloon artist performance combining science, magic, and balloon art, inquiries have already been pouring in.
The museum announced on the 29th that it will host the "2026 Children's Day Special Event – Fun Play Day at the Science Museum." To commemorate Children's Day week, the museum will fully open its permanent exhibition halls (Main Hall, Children's Science Museum, and Artificial Intelligence Hall) free of charge for three days from May 5 to 7. On Children's Day itself, a total of nine programs across three categories — performances, hands-on experiences, and events — will be offered, centered on the Main Hall and the Children's Science Museum.
The performance and participation programs are also varied.
On the day of the event, the "Wow! Balloon Art Show" will be held. Reservations for the performance can be made on-site through unmanned ticketing machines on the day of the event.
In addition, "Making a Colorful Summer Coloring Sun Cap" and, at the Children's Science Museum, "Making a Spinning Spring Pinwheel" will each be held six times, and visitors to the permanent exhibition halls can participate on a first-come, first-served basis.
A "Children's Day Family Commemorative Shot" event, which offers instant photos for family visitors, will be held, and a participation event providing gifts to those who leave event reviews as comments on the museum's social networking service (SNS) will also be offered, continuing the festive atmosphere both online and offline.
