
Chun Young-mi, a former Gyeonggi Provincial Council member, was confirmed Tuesday as the Democratic Party of Korea's candidate for Ansan mayor in the June 3 local elections.
The Gyeonggi provincial chapter of the Democratic Party announced the primary results that afternoon.
Chun secured the nomination by defeating former National Assembly member Kim Chul-min in a runoff held from Monday to Tuesday.
With this decision, the Democratic Party will wrap up its candidate nomination process for the 31 basic-level local government heads in the province with the announcement of the Osan mayoral candidate on Wednesday.
