Airline-linked career education programs aimed at early discovery of aviation industry talent in the Busan region are expanding.
Air Busan said Wednesday it has launched Dream School, a customized aviation job education program for local high school students. This year's first program was held Tuesday at Haeundae Tourism High School, where 24 students were introduced to major airline roles, including flight attendant and ground staff positions, and shared on-site practical experiences.
The training was conducted with Air Busan's active employees visiting the school directly to explain overall aviation operations, recruitment preparation processes, and field experiences. Students gained firsthand exposure to actual airline work environments and required competencies, beyond simple job introductions.
"Having active professionals visit in person to give lectures seems to have been a very beneficial time for students interested in airlines," an official from Haeundae Tourism High School said.
Dream School is a regional aviation workforce development program that Air Busan has been operating since 2021 in cooperation with the Busan Metropolitan City and the Busan Economic Promotion Agency. It enhances local high school students' understanding of the aviation sector and provides opportunities for career exploration. Through last year, some 1,250 participants from 50 regional schools took part.
This year, the program will be expanded to cover approximately 470 students from 22 high schools in the Busan region. The plan is to develop it into a substantive career support program that goes beyond simple job introductions to include career counseling tailored to students' perspectives and employment preparation information.
In addition to Dream School, Air Busan operates Dream Campus, an airport on-site practical training program, and Dream Mentor, a special employment lecture series by active aviation professionals, building a system for cultivating regional aviation talent. Through last year, approximately 2,300 participants have completed these programs.
"We are continuously expanding Dream School to provide information and career planning opportunities tailored to local young people's perspectives," an Air Busan official said. "We will continue to expand our aviation talent development model that grows together with the local community."
