The Korea Optical Industry Promotion Agency has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Suseong University to establish a cooperative framework for the development of the eyewear optical industry, the agency announced Tuesday.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will combine the solid corporate support infrastructure of Korea's only dedicated support agency for the eyewear optical industry with the university's academic capabilities to drive the sector's advancement.
Specifically, the two sides will pursue various forms of cooperation, including joint research for eyewear industry development, shared use of facilities and equipment, joint research and development of educational materials, information exchange and academic cooperation, and the hosting of exhibitions.
Rather than stopping at the agreement itself, the two institutions plan to identify concrete cooperative projects through working-level consultations and implement them in phases.
"Through close cooperation, we will lay the foundation for sustainable development in which educational institutions and the industry grow together," said Kim Jong-han, president of the Korea Optical Industry Promotion Agency.
