Goyang City in Gyeonggi Province has launched a "Well-boarding" training program to strengthen new public officials' capabilities in utilizing generative AI. The city plans to accelerate the development of future administrative talent by establishing a customized training system tailored to each growth stage, from early appointment to experienced employees.
According to Goyang City on Wednesday, the Well-boarding program is a second-stage training for new recruits that goes one step beyond the first onboarding training conducted before appointment. It is a specialized program unique to Goyang City, designed for junior employees who have served six months since appointment, helping them resolve workplace difficulties and develop self-directed work capabilities.
The first session (April 16-17) and second session (April 20-21) were held at the Goyang Human Resources Development Institute, with a total of 55 participants. The curriculum reflected the actual needs of new public officials identified through a preliminary survey.
Key content included: sharing job experiences among peers; resolving work mistakes and improving resilience; asset management tailored for young professionals; planning based on logical thinking; writing reports using generative AI; and reviewing language use in handling civil complaints and overcoming call phobia (fear of phone calls).
In particular, the program provides early training on generative AI utilization capabilities in line with the era of AI transformation, supporting participants to grow into leaders of digital administrative innovation.
Operated with a focus on group activities and hands-on practice, the training recorded an average satisfaction score of 4.77 out of 5.
The city plans to run an additional third session in July. In the third session, team leader-level in-house instructors will be deployed to deliver practical know-how from a senior perspective.
"The Well-boarding training is a ladder that helps new public officials grow into responsible, professional field experts," said Park Young-san, director of the Human Resources Division at Goyang City. "We will provide high-quality services to citizens by pursuing systematic training tailored to each growth stage."
