The Seonryang district urban development project in Yongun-dong, Dong-gu, Daejeon, is moving into full swing.
Daejeon Urban Corporation announced Monday that it will begin full-scale implementation of the Seonryang District Urban Development Project after the site was designated as an urban development zone and its development plan was approved and announced on April 10.
The project covers approximately 200,000 square meters of land around 11 Yongun-dong, Dong-gu, Daejeon. It is linked to the construction of Daejeon Medical Center, which aims to enhance medical welfare for Daejeon citizens, and is expected to serve as a key hub for expanding the region's insufficient medical infrastructure.
Daejeon Urban Corporation plans to build not only public health and medical facilities, including Daejeon Medical Center, but also about 760 units of rental and for-sale housing on the site to create a pleasant residential environment. The corporation aims to complete implementation plan approval by the end of this year and begin full-scale construction in the first half of 2027.
"The Seonryang district will be an innovative space that simultaneously realizes citizens' healthy lives and housing stability as a medical welfare-specialized complex linked with Daejeon Medical Center," Daejeon Urban Corporation President Jung Kook-young said. "We will dramatically improve living conditions in the Dong-gu area and turn this into a successful model for Daejeon's balanced development."
