The Daejeon Tourism Organization said Monday it will run a "Enjoy Sports and Science in Daejeon" promotion for two weeks through April 30, offering lodging discounts in partnership with travel and leisure platform Yeogi Eottae.
The program is designed to encourage stay-over tourism, allowing visitors to remain in Daejeon and enjoy various events, festivals and content in line with the excitement of professional sports home games held in the city.
A 20,000 won ($14) discount coupon will be provided when booking accommodations worth 70,000 won ($50) or more through the Yeogi Eottae app. Coupons will be issued through April 30, with reservations and check-ins available until May 16.
In last year's lodging discount promotions, conducted three times in total, payment transactions at accommodations in the Daejeon region rose by an average of 60.2 percent, while transaction values increased by an average of 49.1 percent, driving local consumption.
"Expanding tourist inflow and revitalizing stay-over tourism will serve as a catalyst for injecting vitality into the regional economy," said Kim Yong-won, president of the Daejeon Tourism Organization.
