Donggang University, emerging as a hub for future talent development in the Honam region, is declaring a new leap forward to cultivate "Super Technicians" — highly skilled technical professionals — as it marks its 50th anniversary.
Donggang University will hold its "50th Anniversary Ceremony" on the 23rd at Nightingale Hall on the fifth floor of the main building, with key guests in attendance.
Founded on April 23, 1976, as Dongshin Industrial Vocational School, Donggang University has grown while fulfilling its educational mission of a "century-long plan" and its responsibility as a regional private institution.
Over the past 50 years, Donggang University has produced approximately 70,000 graduates, nurturing talent active in various sectors of society.
Using the 50th anniversary as a springboard, Donggang University will proclaim its vision for a major leap toward the next 100 years.
At the ceremony, President Lee Min-sook will present the slogan "Do it great for Super Technician" and announce her commitment to cultivating "Super Technicians" — highly skilled technical professionals — as the future talent model responding to the era of digital transformation.
"A Super Technician refers to a dignified technical professional who, even in the age of AI and digital technology, does not lose human warmth while freely utilizing advanced technology and demonstrating creative capabilities," President Lee said. "This is the core educational goal Donggang University will pursue over the next 100 years."
Donggang University has also prepared a special moment for this 50th anniversary ceremony.
A congratulatory video of founder Dr. Lee Jang-woo, restored using artificial intelligence (AI) technology, will be screened, offering a particularly moving tribute.
In addition, a delegation led by the president of Nan Jeon University of Science and Technology in Taiwan, which formed a sisterhood agreement with Donggang University in 1995, will visit the ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary and showcase three decades of friendship.
Alongside this, the Donggang University Alumni Association will present a development fund, conveying its dedication to the growth of its alma mater and affection for younger students.
