Suji District in Yongin announced Monday that it has completed the "Seongbok Stream Bike Path Improvement Project," which renovated bicycle lanes around Seongbok Stream in Seongbok-dong.
The project was undertaken to connect disconnected sections of the bike path and to separate the flow of pedestrians and cyclists, creating a safer and more pleasant environment for stream users.
The project site is located around 728 Seongbok-dong in Suji District, near Hyoja Elementary School. The district invested a total of 160 million won ($110,000) to renovate a 178-meter stretch of bicycle lane and upgrade the pavement markings.
The project also improved the stream's landscape, enhancing its usability as a leisure and rest space for residents.
"By renovating hazardous sections where pedestrians and cyclists were mixed together, residents can now use the stream more safely and conveniently," a district official said. "We will continue to pursue maintenance of aging facilities and safety improvements to create a user-centered stream environment."
