Paju City in Gyeonggi Province is launching the "Gyeonggi Province Residential Solar Support Program," covering 80% of rooftop solar panel installation costs. For a 3kW system, homeowners pay only 909,000 won out of pocket, with expected monthly electricity savings of approximately 70,000 won.
According to Paju City on January 13, the program is organized by Gyeonggi Province with Paju City's participation. Gyeonggi Province covers 40% of installation costs, while Paju City covers the remaining 40%. Paju City's allocation of 330 households this year is the largest among all cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province.
Starting this year, both single-family homes and multi-unit housing with separate electricity meters are eligible to apply. Installing a 3kW system can generate an average of 300-400kWh of electricity per month, helping ease the burden of summer cooling costs.
Applications proceed in two stages. First, applicants must sign a preliminary contract with an installation company by January 17. Then, they complete the online application through the "Gyeonggi Province Residential Solar Support System" between January 20 and 24. Details are available on the Paju City Hall website.
"We will continue expanding renewable energy distribution in ways that citizens can tangibly experience," a Paju City official said.
