Incheon Metropolitan City is conducting a month-long street campaign in a relay format across districts and counties in April to respond to the energy crisis caused by instability in the Middle East.
The city held its first campaign near Incheon Technopark Station on Tuesday. Relay campaigns will follow at Incheon International Airport on April 15, Incheon General Terminal on April 24, and Bupyeong Culture Street on April 29. Four organizations, including the relevant district offices and public institutions, will participate in each event.
Four related agencies joined the campaign on Tuesday: the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, the Korea Energy Agency Incheon Regional Office, the Korea Electric Power Corporation Incheon Regional Office, and the Incheon Transit Corporation.
Incheon has been promoting public sector energy conservation policies, including a car-free day program, since the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment announced energy reduction measures on March 25.
"We hope citizens will join us in practicing energy conservation in daily life, such as using public transportation, so that the public and private sectors can work together to wisely overcome this energy crisis," said Lee Nam-ju, Director of the Future Industries Bureau at Incheon Metropolitan City.
